Will I hit any licensing issues if I install True Image again?

I have found many Registry entries for Seagate that still exist even though I deinstalled DiskWizard, so these are certainly going to go, but I don't know how 'deeply' these 2 pieces of software are embedded within Windows.Ĭould anyone please provide instructions on how to remove all traces of DiskWizard and True Image from a Windows 10 PC - I expect they will be the same apart from registry entries being listed under different headings. I want to cleanly de-install Diskwizard and TrueImage and then re-install TrueImage. I am unable to associate True Image with *.tib files - when I specify True Image as the executable, just True Image starts when I double click a tib file rather than being able to explore it. I have installed True Image on another Windows 10 PC which never had DiskWizard and True Image works fine. Windows does not show an association of *.tib with any software when I look in Control Panel, and I can't find anything relating to '.tib' in the registry. However, When I dould click a *.tib file created by True Image Windows wants to open the file with DiskWizard even though I have de-installed DiskWizard, so the associated DiskWizard image doesn't physically exist. I was suitably impressed with DiskWizard (and Norton Ghost is incompatible with Windows 10) that I then removed DiskWizard and installed Acronis TrueImage 2016. Thanks for your attention to this matter.I installed Seagate DiskWizard on Windows 8. The drive is running almost all the time. That drive is partitioned as one of my Photo storage drives. It had run about an hour before I ran Etrecheck. On the subject of TM, I noticed in the console log and the Etrecheck data that there was mention of no TM. The Seagate USB-C drive is my Time Machine storage. I could not find cindori trim software (AuthHelper). Are you suggesting that there is a better choice for a VPN than PIA? I only use it when on a WiFi source I do not trust. I could not identify a VPN other than PIA. I'll wait you your reply before I uninstall cCleaner,\. Should I look for a different uninstall app? I have not yet uninstalled cCleaner because it is the only way I know that I have to actually uninstall an app as opposed to just deleting the app. Using cCleaner, I uninstalled the following apps because I either did not know what they did or would not load when I clicked on their app: Seagate dashboard, PIA, Onyx, Anytrans, DiskMark, Friendly Streaming, H3DViewer, Kismac, Monit, and Rescue Pro. I'd uninstall it according to the developer's instructions and see if that helps the spontaneous reboot problem.Īlso the Private Internet Access app is crashing. Don't know what you're using it for but the system doesn't need any additional 3rd party software to manage external hard drives. Unless you're using a true VPN tunnel, such as between you and your employer's or bank's servers, they are useless from a privacy standpoint: Public VPN's are anything but private.Īdditionally you have Seagate Storage Gauge installed and it has crashed numerous times.

The free version is more than adequate for most users. There is one app, Malwarebytes, which was developed by a long time contributor to these forums and a highly respected member of the computer security community, that is desshoigned solely to seek out adware and known malware and remove it. Since there are no viruses these apps use up a lot of system resources searching for what is non-existent and adversely affect system and app performance. They do a poor job of the detecting and isolating the adware and malware. There are, however, adware and malware which require the user to install although unwittingly most of the time thru sneaky links, etc.Īnti Virus developers try to group all types as viruses into their ad campaigns of fear. This user tip describes what you need to know and do in order to protect your Mac: Effective defenses against malware and other threats - Apple Community. I don't see any of the usual suspects but do see some items of concern.įirst, there is no reason to ever install or run any 3rd party "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus, VPN or security apps on your Mac.
